Brighton reportedly do not plan to recall winger Amario Cozier-Duberry from his loan spell at Bolton Wanderers.
The winger has enjoyed a remarkable start to the campaign with the League One outfit, scoring seven goals and registering six assists in 17 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Cozier-Duberry impressed over the weekend with two goals and two assists in Bolton’s 4-0 win against Port Vale too, prompting manager Steven Schumacher to insist that his side ‘are not a one-man team’, despite the winger’s immense output.
The Seagulls youngster’s performances have not gone unnoticed up and down the country, with a host of Championship clubs monitoring his situation closely in the hope that he is recalled and loaned back out for the second half of the campaign.
However, Sky Sports News report that Brighton have no plans to cut Cozier-Duberry’s time at the Toughsheet Community Stadium short, despite there being a ‘break clause’ in the agreement which would facilitate it.
Instead, Fabian Hurzeler’s side wants the Arsenal academy graduate to continue developing with Bolton, having been ‘impressed by the progress’ he has made at the club already.
The news will come as a welcome relief to Wanderers, who moved up to third place in League One following their emphatic win over Port Vale, just two points off of top spot, currently occupied by Stockport County.
Bolton sporting director Fergal Harkin previously spoke about how he does not expect Cozier-Duberry to be on the move in the January transfer window, given the nature of the conversations he has had with Brighton.
He told The Wanderers Way Podcast: “You talk about him being recalled… in every loan deal, the mother club have the option to recall the player a lot of the time.
“But I speak to Brighton regularly, and they are very happy. What we said we would deliver for Amario, we are. He is performing for us, they are very happy with him, and I don’t see that changing.”
