Emmanuel Petit has told Chelsea to focus on winning the Premier League and other big trophies. His comments came after Enzo Maresca’s team beat Wolves 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, which moved them up to second place.
On May 28, they beat Real Betis 4-1 to win the 2025 UEFA Conference League. On July 13, they beat PSG 3-0 to win the expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. However, Petit wants to see more from the Blues, as he said:
“Chelsea need to win the Premier League and other big trophies, they’ve started well with the European Conference League and Club World Cup, but they’re a level below the trophies they need to win.”

In the Premier League, Chelsea beat Wolves 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. After changes in Europe in the middle of the week, Maresca turned back toward his league core. Before the break, Sam Johnstone stopped Enzo Fernandez and Alejandro Garnacho, but the Blues turned up the pressure after the break to win the game. Goals by Malo Gusto, Joao Pedro, and Pedro Neto came in the second half, at 51′, 65′, and 73′.
Chelsea was in charge of the field and the chances the whole time. Wolves didn’t get a single shot on target and played under interim coaches James Collins and Richard Walker after Vitor Pereira was sacked.
Gusto’s header was his first goal for a senior club in his 159th game. Estevao set up Pedro’s goal just a few minutes after coming on, and Alejandro Garnacho crossed for the first and third goals. The win put Wolves at the bottom of the league, eight points from safety, and searching desperately for three points.
Meanwhile, after the international break, Chelsea will need to stay at their best. The festive period is around the corner, and the Blues will take on clubs like Barcelona and Arsenal.
