Albion aim for big League Cup finish - but Kirby is under wraps for the Amex

[Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au) are keeping close tabs on Fran Kirby ahead of their return to the Amex.

The former England star is unwell and will be among the players left out of the League Cup game at home to second-tier leaders Charlton at Broadfield Stadium tomorrow (7pm).

Head coach Dario Vidosic will field a youthful side in the final group game with half an eye on a WSL fixture at the Amex versus Leicester City on Sunday.

Marisa Olislagers and fit-again defender Manuela Vanegas are among those who miss out.

Albion need a win to keep any sort of pressure on group leaders West Ham, who beat them in what appears to have been the pivotal match in the group.

Vidosic said: “We want to respect tomorrow’s opponents, we have planned as best we can, we analyse them as best we can.

“We will deliver all that as quickly as we possibly can in a short sharp session (on Tuesday morning) and try and get the players ready as quickly as possible.

“We want to play well, we want to win and try and put as much pressure on that top spot to hopefully be in the running into the final game.”

Albion will be keen for Kirby to have a good week before facing Leicester on Sunday.

Vidosic said: “Fran has fallen a little ill and we will see later today how she feels.”

The Seagulls boss is excited to see what his young players can do.

He added: "They deserve that chance and we will still field the best team we can - but we will have a fair contingent of young players.

"They have all been training with us and helping us throughout the season"
