Dominik Szoboszlai has emerged as one of Liverpool’s most influential figures during the 2025/26 season.

The Hungarian international has already claimed two Player of the Month awards in August and October and could easily end up as the club’s Player of the Year if he continues this form.

The 25-year-old has started every Premier League match and completed all 990 minutes without substitution.

And it looks like his form this season has Europe’s elite on alert.

Spanish outlet AS report that both Real Madrid and Manchester City are monitoring his situation at Anfield closely.

According to them, Szoboszlai currently earns approximately £130,000 per week (around €135,000), a figure that pales in comparison to top midfielders at other European giants.

Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid commands around £400,000 per week, while Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva earns £300,000 weekly. Even Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes is on £300,000 per week, and Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala collects approximately £360,000 weekly.

Liverpool have moved quickly to address the situation, with early contract discussions now underway between the club and Szoboszlai’s representatives.

Reports suggest the Merseyside outfit are preparing to offer the Hungarian international a new long-term deal extending until 2030 or potentially 2031, which would include a substantial pay increase to reflect his growing stature within the squad.

The Athletic’s Gregg Evans confirmed that while talks are indeed progressing, club sources indicate an agreement is not imminent at this stage.

This measured approach is typical of Liverpool’s negotiation style, as they carefully structure contracts with performance-based incentives to protect the club’s long-term financial health.

Szoboszlai’s market value currently stands at around €85 million, though any potential suitors could face demands exceeding €100 million for his services.

The midfielder joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2023 for approximately €70 million and has his current contract running until 2028.
