“Stay at Sunderland” – National manager tells midfielder to pause move to bigger club

Noah Sadiki has settled in quickly at the Stadium of Light since Sunderland signed him from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in July.

The DR Congo international has starred for Sunderland this season, playing every minute in the Premier League so far.

Two months ago, DR Congo manager [Sébastien Desabre said](https://sportwitness.co.uk/sunderland-summer-signing-will-be-among-the-best-in-the-premier-league-manager-convinced-about-him/) the midfielder is destined for greatness with Sunderland.

Desabre has now spoken to [Africa Foot](https://africafoot.com/sebastien-desabre-en-trois-mois-a-sunderland-sadiki-a-franchi-un-palier/), discussing the progress made by the 20-year-old since his €17m move to Sunderland.

The 49-year-old coach knows the Sunderland summer signing well. Sadiki made his debut for the national team under his orders in 2024.

Although the Black Cats signed the midfielder a few months ago and he has a contract until 2030, Desabre remains confident Saidki will make a big move in the future.

Africa Foot said to the DR Congo boss that the player has enjoyed a good start at Sunderland. They immediately asked him whether he expects top English clubs to make an approach to sign Sadiki.

Responding to that, he said: _“It’s quite possible. The big Premier League clubs have a lot of money, and they can make a big offer that’s hard to refuse._

_“In my opinion, he’ll soon be among the best in his position in the Premier League, and when you look at his progress, there’s no doubt he’ll play for a big club one day. But he’s only 20 years old; he still has plenty of room to improve. Let’s give him time.”_

The Sunderland player hasn’t been linked to top clubs just yet. Desabre has urged him to finish this season with Régis Le Bris’ side and then stay another.

_“That said, I think Noah Sadiki’s best interest is to stay at Sunderland for at least another season. He’s discovering the Premier League, and we need to give him time to adapt. It’s early November, and it’s going to be a long season,”_ Desabre explained.

_“There will probably be a point where Sunderland experiences a dip in form. It will be interesting to see how Noah adapts if that happens.”_
