Ruben Amorim smashed a TV in the dressing room after an abject Manchester United were beaten by Brighton back in January - but his outburst is thought to have worked in his favour.
The Portuguese boss was only months into his tenure when the tide starting going against him. After a difficult December saw United lose five times - three of those at Old Trafford - things failed to improve in January. And Amorim was left with even more issues when Brighton left Old Trafford with a 3-1 victory as former player Danny Welbeck got on the scoresheet and Andre Onana made another costly blunder.
The Portuguese boss couldn't hide his frustration as he read his players the riot act and subsequently smashed a television as he reached boiling point following another chastening home defeat.
However, The Telegraph reports that his extreme act resonated positively with a number of the United players. They fully understood how much he cared as he lamented their situation and it's said that some even gained more respect for the former Sporting Lisbon boss.
It was on that Sunday afternoon that Amorim himself controversially suggested that his side were "maybe the worst" in the 147-year history of the club as they faced the prospect of a relegation battle.
He said: "In [the past] 10 games in Premier League, we won two. Imagine what this is for a fan of Manchester United. Imagine what this is for me. We are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. I have full knowledge of that. We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. I know you [media] want headlines but I am saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that. Here you go: your headlines."

Amorim also displayed a clear disapproval for his team's performance when they faced Everton in February - a month after their Brighton defeat. He was fuming following their first-half display, which had left them trailing 2-0 at Goodison Park.
He would make the briefest visit to the dressing room before stepping out. Amorim spent much of the 15 minute break in the corridor outside, looking at the ground. It was Darren Fletcher, the first-team coach at the time, who had to deliver the frank messages of United’s players. They did stage a late comeback to draw 2-2.
