Amadou Onana talked about an emphatic 4-0 victory for Aston Villa, their biggest triumph of the campaign.
The Villans hosted high flying Bournemouth, who were looking to return to the top four with a win of their own, but delivered their most decisive display of the Premier League season. **Emiliano Buendia**and Onana opened the scoring for the hosts against the Cherries, going into the break 2-0 up.
Antoine Semenyo then stepped up to slot away a penalty in the second half after a handball from Morgan Rogers, but Emiliano Martinez won the battle of wills, holding onto his clean sheet after a strong start to the second half from the guests. Ross Barkley and Donyell Malen came off the bench to add to the advantage, and Villa are confident that they can compete for continental positions again.
“Everyone’s delighted, it was our biggest victory of the season. Four goals, four different goal scorers – it doesn’t get any better than that.
“With the ball, we’ve been very proud of how we played out from the back.
“Sometimes I know it can be annoying for the fans but it’s the way we play and it’s what got us to here. We need to continue doing that. I think that we beat them at their own game.
“They’re a very intense team, but today in the duels we were really aggressive. We were spot on.
*“When you hit it that sweet, you know it’s going in. It reminded me of my goal against Young Boys last season in the Champions League, it was pretty similar.*
*“Coming off this, 4-0 against Bournemouth at home and trying to qualify with Belgium for the World Cup, it’s an amazing feeling. I’m really proud of that and we’ll need to refocus when we get back to the Premier League.”*
