The noise around Daniel Farke and his future at Leeds United continues to spread. After this past weekend’s result, the pressure is now certainly on the German.
Leeds began their run of fixtures after the last international break on the worst possible note. Daniel Farke’s side suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Burnley.

Pressure was eased on Farke the following week with a win over West Ham, but the Whites then lost 3-0 to Brighton in an embarrassing performance on the south coast. Then came this weekend’s loss to Nottingham Forest, a game everyone felt was winnable due to the home side’s poor form this season.
Leeds were so poor on Sunday that reports emerged about possible replacements for Farke, with Brendan Rodgers and Marco Rose as the key names.
Daniel Farke could get Leeds United sack soon
There is pressure after these recent results, but the overall outlook is that Farke has a few games to save his season. According to information in the Daily Mail prior to Sunday’s defeat, the German has been given five games. One of them, the most winnable one against Forest, is already crossed off in the loss column. The next four games are against Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
This next couple of weeks at Elland Road will be very interesting as rumours continue to circle. The report from the Mail also adds that the club board are wary of not repeating the same mistake they did with Jesse Marsch the last time Leeds were in the Premier League. When the American was in charge, Leeds gave him too much time and when he was sacked, most of the season and the damaged had already been done. That campaign ended in disaster as the Whites were relegated under Sam Allardyce, with the former Bolton, Blackburn and Newcastle manager drafted in for the last five game after a short but dire stint from Javi Gracia. This time, the 49ers are determined to not repeat the same mistakes by the previous club chiefs.
Daniel Farke sack is ‘inevitable’
All Leeds opponents in the next month of football are going to be tough, and given the way United were outplayed by Brighton and Nottingham, it’s hard to see Farke picking up a point in these next four games, let alone another a win.
Leeds’ next opponents after the international break, Aston Villa, are in top form; they have won 8 of their last 10 matches in all competition, including wins over Tottenham and Manchester City. If Leeds are to stand any chance of winning, Farke will have to pull off a masterclass. Maybe going back to the players that helped him win promotion could be the ultimate solution.
But even then, it seems like no matter which way Farke turns, it looks like mission impossible. Tim Sherwood said on Sky Sports on Monday that he expects “we’ll see a change of manager at Leeds”.
Sherwood continued: “I hope we don’t, but it’s inevitable we will, because I don’t see them winning any of those next four games.” Unfortunately for Leeds, he is spot on and that is the reason many are now calling for Farke’s head before the ‘inevitable’ happens. It will give a new manager a chance to get in the door before Leeds face Aston Villa, a game at Elland Road that could lay the platform for the rest of the season.
If Farke stays and the current style of play continues, this is only going one way. Leeds will be played off the park by Villa and then will be beaten badly by heavyweights Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool. If the Mail’s report is accurate and Farke, from the start of the Forest game, had five games to save his job, then it’s already over. A bad defeat at home to Liverpool at the start of December will mark the end of the 49ers ‘five games to save your job’ period, and it will mark the end for Daniel Farke. We all know it’s coming, so it may as well happen now.
