Former Real Madrid manager and current Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti has addressed the growing uncertainty surrounding Endrick’s situation under Xabi Alonso at the Santiago Bernabeu.
As Brazil prepare their squad list for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the teenage striker’s lack of minutes at club level has become a major talking point.
So far this season, Endrick has featured for only 14 minutes in a single appearance, coming on as a late substitute in the 4-0 win over Valencia.
Despite his immense potential, the 19-year-old has struggled to find his place in Alonso’s system, and once again, Ancelotti has opted not to include him in the Brazil squad.
Difficult time for Endrick
It is a tough moment for a player once seen as the face of Brazil’s next generation.
Since Alonso’s arrival, Endrick has slipped from being a dynamic impact option to a peripheral figure, spending most games on the bench.
The lack of consistent playing time is now putting his World Cup dreams in jeopardy, leading to speculation about a loan move to Ligue 1 in search of regular football.
Speaking to Placar (h/t Fabrizio Romano), Ancelotti provided clarity on his stance regarding the young forward’s future.

“Endrick? I spoke with him at the beginning of the season. He was injured, but he’s back now.
“He needs to discuss with his family what’s best and talk with the club to decide what’s best for him.”
Ancelotti went on to express confidence in the youngster’s potential while stressing the importance of patience.
“He’s very young, and this won’t be his last World Cup. He could play in it because he has the necessary talent, but he could also be in the 2030 or 2034 World Cup, or even the 2038 World Cup.
“It’s important for him to play again and show his quality,” noted the former Real Madrid boss.
At present, Lyon have reportedly reached a verbal agreement for Endrick’s loan.
The move appeals to the striker for several reasons, and everything points to a temporary exit in January, which could alleviate his chances of making it to Brazil’s squad.
