Wayne Rooney has delivered a glowing Hill Dickinson Stadium verdict and hailed Jack Grealish for his performance against Fulham. Everton's magnificent new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock opened its doors for the first time to 10,000 lucky supporters back in February.

A full house then helped cheer the Blues to victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in August as Everton played their first competitive game at their new home. But before that, they signed off from Goodison Park with a fitting 2-0 win over an abject Southampton back in May.

And Rooney, who was in attendance at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday to watch David Moyes’ side claim a 2-0 win against the Cottagers, described the ground as 'incredible'.

“It was brilliant,” the former England international said on his BBC podcast. “I've been to the stadium a few times.

“At the end of last season, I watched the under-18s against Bolton. And then I went and just done a tour as well at the end of last season.

“I took my lad to the game yesterday and I loved it, obviously. Great win. Everton played really well. Jack Grealish was brilliant.

“The atmosphere was really good. And I sat next to Peter Reid, which is always fun! So great win, a needed win, I think, as well.

“The stadium is incredible, what they've done with the stadium. I think the worry when you go into a new stadium is, can you get the atmosphere in there, but the atmosphere was brilliant, loved it.”

Goals from Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane secured the Blues all three points, and the defender said: "It feels great. I think it was very much needed.

“We've been frustrated lately not to pick up more results and it feels like we've not had a win for a while, so it was really important today – and I thought you could tell.

“The lads were really at it straight away and we were all really determined [to get the win], so we're very pleased to get the three points."

Before he added: "I've always believed in myself. I've always believe in what I can bring and I know I had a couple of years where I've not played a lot.

"I've been fortunate this season to get the opportunity, so I'm really enjoying myself and I think 350 games is good going but hopefully there are plenty more left to come."
