Newcastle United defender Emil Krafth’s agent has rubbished claims his client could be set to join FC Copenhagen in January.
Fotball Direkt cover comments from Patrick Mörk today about the matter. He says there are two clear reasons why such a move won’t be happening.
FD explain that despite reports linking Krafth with a departure from Newcastle, there is nothing currently in the offing. While FC Copenhagen had been singled out as a possible destination, their understanding is that isn’t on the cards.
This has now been confirmed by Mörk, who says the Newcastle defender’s wages are one of the reasons why it won’t happen.
“FCK is a great club, but his salary is far too high for all Scandinavian clubs,” he said about the rumour.

FD then explain that the 31-year-old earns around £55,000 per week at Newcastle. He doesn’t want to lose that. In fact, he’d prefer to stay on that contract until next summer at least.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is also a factor. According to Mörk, he’s determined to keep hold of his client.
“But then it is also about Newcastle not wanting to let him go,” he added about the rumours.
That, then, should put an end to them for the time being. Newcastle want to keep Krafth, and even if he were to leave, his wages would be too high for the likes of Copenhagen as well.
