The Detroit Pistons are now 8-2 after beating the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night. As expected, Cade Cunningham was a huge part of that win as he posted 26 points, four rebounds, and 11 assists.

Following the game, Cunningham spoke about the Pistons, their culture, and loyal fanbase. He made it clear that he has never lost faith in this team, even when so many people counted them out.

“I got lucky and fell into a franchise and a city that has the same mentality that I felt it took for me to take the next step,” Cunningham said.

Cunningham is averaging 25.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 9.8 assists so far this season, shooting 46.5 percent from the field.

This is his fifth season in the league, and it could be the most consequential yet. The Pistons are attempting to build upon the surprising success they found last year, just one season after their dismal, historically bad run in the East.

So far, things are off to a great start, and it’s not just because of Cunningham. Ausar Thompson, Duncan Robinson, Caris LeVert, and especially Jalen Duren are all attempting to make an impact for their team.

Duren has been putting on a defensive clinic night after night, but he is just one of many who are gaining a ton of attention. The team is deeper than it’s ever been, but Cunningham is at the center of it all.

For years, the Pistons were the laughingstock of the NBA, but they are now a true playoff contender in the Eastern Conference, and Cunningham believes they can achieve all their goals. In fact, he’s always believed that.
