Sunderland star sent clear transfer message amid 'possible major clubs' interest

And while the Frenchman thinks the midfielder has all that it takes to play for a Premier League or European giant in the future, he says the 20-year-old is currently in the best place at the Stadium of Light.

Apart from his late withdrawal in the 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace in September, Sadiki has played every Premier League minute for the Black Cats since his summer move from Union Saint-Gilloise, quickly establishing himself as a major player in Regis Le Bris' side.

With the African Cup of Nations to come next month, Desabre is obviously delighted that Sadiki is playing so much and so well for Sunderland.

And an interview with Africa Foot, the DR Congo boss was asked whether he thinks Sadiki's form could result in a transfer approach from a "major" Premier League club.

He said: "It's quite possible. The big Premier League clubs have a lot of money, and they can make a big offer that's hard to refuse.

"That said, I think it's in Noah Sadiki's best interest to stay at Sunderland for at least one more season.

"He's still getting to grips with the Premier League, and we need to give him time to adapt.

"It's early November, and it's going to be a long season. There will probably be a point where Sunderland experiences a dip in form.

"It will be interesting to see how Noah adapts if that happens.

"In my opinion, he'll soon be among the best in his position in the Premier League, and when you look at his progress, there's no doubt he'll play for a big club one day.

"But he's only 20 years old; he still has plenty of room to grow. Let's give him time."

Reflecting on Sadiki's start to life on Wearside, Desabre said: "He plays all the time, and he performs well.

"The fact that he plays for a team that has had a very good start to the season, with Sunderland being promoted to the Premier League, is a bonus.

"Noah has made the transition from the Belgian league, which is of a good standard, to one of the best leagues in the world very well.

"He was playing, it's true, for Union Saint-Gilloise, a team that competes at the top of the table in Belgium and won the league title, and his performances at that club were already very impressive."

Desabre isn't at all surprised at how Sadiki has handled the transition to Premier League - and paid the youngster one of the ultimate midfield compliments.

He said: "He works hard because he has high goals and gives himself the means to achieve them.

"He was trained at Anderlecht, so he knows the demands of professionalism.

"Sadiki is intelligent, quickly grasps what's expected of him, and has a great mentality.

"He's a pleasant and cheerful guy, which is very important. He's a very active midfielder: he likes to win back possession and press high. He sometimes reminds me of N'Golo Kanté.

"Sadiki belongs to that category of active, generous players who work hard for the team, capable of defending and contributing to the attack, even if they're less prominent than number 10s or strikers."
