West Ham have been linked to Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber, but how important would it be to secure the Dutchman’s signature?
Quinten Timber, who was previously linked to the Hammers during the summer, has once again seen links reignite to a move to East London due to entering the last year of his contract.
To try and achieve the 24-year-olds signature, we’ll have to cough up a fairly significant transfer fee of around £17m to beat out the other clubs interested in him, one of which being Borussia Dortmund.
In the event that we did sign him, how beneficial could he be?
You’d have to say that he’d be someone that the club have been desperate to have in recent years and despite Fernandes & Potts’ brilliant performance at this moment in time, it doesn’t harm to have another quality midfielder, seeing as our current fringe players are Andy Irving and Guido Rodriguez, both of which are not Premier League standard.
We’ll also likely have the departure of James Ward-Prowse come the January window, which will free up another midfielder slot whilst also bringing in funds to buy someone such as Timber.
Ward-Prowse may not go for a significant fee directly, but his £115,000 p/w off the books will certainly help.
Some may believe that Timber could be a signing in the riskier side due to his previous injury record.
However, factoring in the price that he’s suspected to go for and the success in the box-to-box role he’s played in, it seems that this transfer might just be worth a punt to see where it goes. If we have to keep the injury prone trend going, let’s at least make it at 24 year old instead of 34!
And if he’s anywhere near as good as his brother Jurrien of Arsenal, it’ll be worth it.
