Liverpool have been in poor form over the last month or so, with their recent wins not meaning all that much in the grand scheme of things.
Their performances against Aston Villa and Real Madrid were certainly impressive, but for some reason, they seemed to throw all of that out of the window when Liverpool were beaten by Manchester City on Sunday.
Now that the international break is upon us, fans will be spared the pain of watching Liverpool and hoping that when their first-team squad returns, they’ll be ready to put up a fight for the title.

Most of Arne Slot’s men have performed fairly poorly this season, but there’s now one specific player that Chris Sutton is “worried” about.
Chris Sutton is worried about Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz
Florian Wirtz was one of the Reds’ many big-money signings in the summer, with most expecting him to instantly hit the ground running.
Unfortunately, that’s been far from the case with some fans even questioning whether he was even worth Liverpool buying in the first place.
Slot has tried him out across most of the pitch, and while his performances seem to improve when he’s on the wing, Sutton has admitted that he’s still “worried” about him.
“Yeah, I mean, it’s not easy, Rob. I mean, you’ve never gone for significant money, so you wouldn’t know,” he said on BBC Sport’s 606.

“But, you know, Florian Wirtz, a lot was made about his signing and him being that creator. You know, I’m slightly worried, Rob, with him, you know. He hasn’t really performed just yet.”
Florian Wirtz must start living up to expectations at Liverpool before it’s too late
The fact that Wirtz cost Liverpool £116 million and there are questions of whether he’s good enough for the Anfield outfit is massively concerning.
The German was expected to be the Reds’ creative outlet with the attacking midfielder easily filling the void left by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure.
However, since a classic number 10 doesn’t often work in the Premier League due to the number of low blocks that teams have to face, the former Bayer Leverkusen man has failed to prove his worth.
Although Liverpool had dips in form last term, the fact that they were the worst team for the entire 90 minutes against Manchester City is massively concerning.

Wirtz was expected to come in and form a dynamic partnership with Liverpool’s attack and make them close to unstoppable.
That’s clearly not been the case, and unless something changes soon, their Premier League and Champions League hopes will be thrown out of the window.
