Aston Villa have spent the last few weeks taking care of some important housekeeping.
Morgan Rogers became the latest member of Unai Emery's squad to sign fresh or extended terms, agreeing a deal that will keep him at the club until 2031.
In doing so he joined John McGinn and Matty Cash in committing his long-term future to Villa - even though he was already under contract until 2030.
McGinn is now signed up until 2028, while Cash is sorted until 2029 as Villa work through the players with less time remaining on their deals.
As things stand they only have three senior players who are set to leave the club next summer - two loanees and Ross Barkley.
The former Everton and Chelsea midfielder has been back in the match-day squad for the last few weeks and scored one of Villa's four goals in the 4-0 rout of Bournemouth.
That was his first since January and at 31-years-old with only three Premier League starts since returning on a free transfer the club could choose to let Barkley's contract tick down - or they could invoke an option for a further 12 months.
At this stage Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho are yet to make much of a mark, or a case to remain in Claret & Blue beyond their loans, with Elliott's situation complicated by an obligation to buy in he plays a certain number of games.
Villa will likely let all three situations play out in the coming months.
However, thought will be given to the next tranche of players whose deals are expiriing in 2027, around 18 months away.
Key among those are Youri Tielemans who after a stuttering start has been a steal of a free transfer from Leicester City.
At 28-years-old and with a proven track record of thriving under Unai Emery he seems the obvious player next in line for an extension. The Belgian isn't just a squad player but an added value starter when fit.
Emi Buendia is also playing well and having looked like he would leave the club in the summer could well enter Villa's thoughts as extendable. That, though, would be quite the turnaround.
Less has been seen of Marco Bizot, although he has done well standing in for Emi Martinez so far, and Victor Lindelöf, albeit it has been reported the Swede and the club both have an option on another 12 months.
That leaves Tyrone Mings, who is both a club stalwart and out with a hamstring injury, his second absence of the season. Mings signed a new deal in June.
For now though, all eyes will be on what happens with Tielemans.

Matty Cash has revealed he rejected two offers to leave in the summer and instead had his heart set on staying at Aston Villa.
The right back recently signed a contract extension that will keep him in Claret & Blue until 2029, which would mean he is set to stay at the club for nine years.
Having joined from Nottingham Forest in 2020 the 28-year-old could have departed in the last transfer window, with ESPN saying the Reds were keen on taking him back to the City Ground.
In an interview with ESPN, the defender outlined what happened in the off-season and why he turned down the chance to move on.
"I had two offers from different clubs in the summer but I never really focused on that," Cash said.
"My main priority is to stay at Villa. I think Villa's a great club, I've done a lot of work there obviously over the years to progress as a player and I still think there's a lot more to go to be honest.
"So my main priority I said in the summer to the manager when we had a chat that I wanted to stay, I wanted to keep improving and this year I think I found a good little bit of form and [I was] delighted that they came to me and offered me a deal.
"We always have an end of season talk and he just asked me where I was at and how I was feeling and that he'd love to keep me.
"I still had a few years left on my contract as well but it was a point where 'was I going to renew or what was the case?'
"I had an open and honest chat that I really want to stay. It's a great club. I feel really settled here. I feel at home here.
"I've got my house and stuff here and I just wanted to commit my future and then they came to me and offered me a new contract.
"It had been in the pipeline for a few months when we had the conversation. But I was never really set on leaving. I feel at home and feel settled.
"I have a good connection with the manager. We have a lot of conversations, not regularly, but we have conversations one-to-one a lot and he's a massive part in me obviously committing and obviously the club as well.
"It speaks for itself. Obviously playing for such a big club is an honour but having a manager that's so good behind it is definitely a big key factor."
