Emirates Stadium: Brazil's home, away from home

Brazil take on Senegal at Emirates Stadium on November 15 in what will be the South American nation's ninth contest in N5 over the past 19 years.

The Selecao have had a close connection with our home since we moved from Highbury in 2006, facing a host of nations from across the globe in that time.

Gabriel has been included in Carlo Ancelotti's squad for the latest contest against Senegal, who will also take on Tunisia during the November international break in Lille, France.

To mark the occasion, we've taken a look back at each match Brazil have played at Emirates Stadium, which has included a familiar face or two down the years!

Brazil 3-0 Argentina

September 3, 2006

Brazil's maiden match at our new home game just a month after our first contest in the stadium, and it was a big one against rivals Argentina.

Our very own Gilberto Silva, who scored our first ever goal at Emirates Stadium, featured in the starting line-up as the five-time world champions made light work of their South American counterparts.

Then-Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Elano scored twice, set up by Robinho and Kaka, established a two-goal lead before Kaka got in on the act with a fine strike after breezing past two players in the Argentine defence.

Brazil 0-2 Portugal

February 6, 2007

While the first match went well for Brazil, the second was less successful as Portugal swept to a 2-0 victory in N5.

Two goals from Simao and Riccardo Carvalho in the final eight minutes of the contest inflicted a first defeat for then-Brazil boss Dunga. Gilberto Silva, as he did in September, also started the contest in north London.

Brazil 1-0 Sweden

March 26, 2008

It would be another 13 months before Brazil came back to Emirates Stadium, this time to face European opposition in the form of Sweden.

The match will be remembered for Alexandre Pato netting on his debut for Brazil, 11 minutes after being introduced to the packed crowd in N5. The match served as a warm-up for a host of players who went on to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Brazil 2-0 Italy

February 10, 2009

Brazil continued their yearly tradition of playing at Emirates Stadium in style with a 2-0 victory over Italy in February 2009.

Selecao's line-up featured two former Gunners in Gilberto Silva, who had moved to Panathinaikos in 2008, and Julio Baptista, who spent a year on loan in N5 in the 2006/07 season.

Goals from Elano, who netted in 2006, and Robinho set Brazil on their way to a comfortable victory over the Azzurri.

Brazil 2-0 Republic of Ireland

March 2, 2010

Ahead of the World Cup taking place in South Africa three months later, Brazil warmed up for the finals with another 2-0 victory at our ground, this time over Ireland.

After a tight and tense first half, an own goal from Keith Andrews and a Robinho strike late on proved too much for the Irish.

Brazil 2-0 Scotland

March 27, 2011

For a third straight year, Brazil would walk away from N5 with another 2-0 victory as they downed Scotland in March 2011.

This was the first time the sides had faced off since the opening of the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France, and the stage belonged to a young Neymar.

The attacker, who was playing for Santos at the time, netted once in each half, with the second coming from the penalty spot to give Brazil victory in front of over 53,000 fans.

Brazil 1-0 Chile

March 29, 2015

After a four-year hiatus, Brazil returned to Emirates Stadium to face Chile and make it five wins in a row at our home ground.

The contest served as a warm-up to the Copa America, taking place in Chile in the summer of 2011, as Roberto Firmino found the net for Dunga's side.

Gabriel Paulista, who had made the move to Emirates Stadium in January 2015 from Villarreal, was an unused substitute in the narrow victory, with Alexis Sanchez playing the full 90 minutes for the Chileans.

Brazil 1-0 Uruguay

November 16, 2018

Another three years went by before Brazil returned for an international friendly over Uruguay in November 2018.

Neymar, as he was in 2011, was on the scoresheet for Brazil, converting a second-half penalty. Lucas Torreira, who had moved to us from Sampdoria in the summer of 2018, played the full contest at his home ground as Brazil made it six wins in a row at Emirates Stadium without conceding.
