The Atlanta Falcons might not be where they want to be in the NFC South standings, but they are showing signs of improvement over last season. In one vital way, they have developed and grown.
Insider Marc Raimondi recently pointed out that the Falcons are showing major defensive improvement, with many more sacks than last year.
“The Falcons are fifth in the NFL in sacks (29) through nine games. They had just 31 sacks all of last season,” Raimondi wrote on X.

This is an impressive accomplishment and proves that the defense is on the same page. The problem for Atlanta is that its offense isn’t always at that level.
That was evident in their Week 10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Though it’s true that the Colts are one of the best teams in the NFL, the Falcons made it easier for them by consistently making mistakes with the ball.
Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. completed just 42.8 percent of his pass attempts for 177 yards and one touchdown. He was sacked three times and had a fumble.
Despite that, the Atlanta defense was strong again and kept the Falcons in the game, even if they couldn’t get the job done in the end. Going forward, they must make sure that the offense stays as competitive as their robust defense.
