Liverpool may have splashed the cash in the summer, but there are gaps in their squad that still need tending to, which includes the defence.

According to reports in Turkey, the club’s scouts have been keeping track of Galatasaray defender Wilfried Singo, who joined this summer and was part of the backline that shut out the Reds on their recent visit.

The Reds’ scouts are claimed to have attended the Turkish side’s recent 3-0 win over Ajax, where they were “impressed” by the Ivory Coast international as he played the full 90 minutes.

The 24-year-old is a versatile defender who can play at centre-back and right-back, though the majority of his senior appearances have come at wing-back on the right flank.

The report from Sabah claims Liverpool, in addition to Man United and Arsenal, have the defender on their radar for the January window – though a £52.8m release clause, for his first year, feels quite prohibitive.

With the struggles Liverpool are facing, expect the list of ‘targets’ to become longer than usual!
