The Philadelphia Eagles once again proved that they are the cream of the crop in the NFC by defeating the Green Bay Packers on Monday night to move to 7-2 on the season. With the win, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has cemented just how great his tenure in Philadelphia has been.
Philadelphia has had sustained success under Sirianni, reaching the postseason every year he has been in town and making two Super Bowls in that stretch of time.
Based on what has been shown thus far this season, it sure seems like the Eagles will be one of the most dangerous contenders in the NFC once again as they look to repeat as champions.
After Monday’s win, James Palmer of The Athletic shared a stat regarding Sirianni that shows just how great a coach he has proven to be in Philadelphia.
The Eagles’ win over the Packers cemented Sirianni’s fourth 7-2 start to a season since becoming the head coach of the team.
This makes him just the fifth coach ever and the first in the Super Bowl era to start 7-2 in four of his first five seasons with the organization. Notably, the four other coaches on this list, Paul Brown, Guy Chamberlin, George Halas, and Don Shula, who are all Hall of Famers.
Being named alongside some of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport has to be a huge honor for Sirianni. Especially considering how he has often not gotten the respect he deserves as a coach, even being on the hot seat prior to Philadelphia’s run to the Super Bowl last season.
The Eagles won’t have any time to rest on their laurels heading into Week 11, as they are set to face off with the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football. So it will certainly be interesting to see whether Sirianni can have his team prepared for another tough matchup against an NFC contender on the horizon.
