Newcastle United’s stance on Emil Krafth leaving the club is very much clear.
The Swedish defender’s Newcastle United contract is due to expire in 2026, having inked a 12-month extension earlier this year. His minutes have been limited this season, with Emil Krafth starting just three games so far.
That has resulted in speculation that he could leave the club, with Copenhagen interested in Krafth.
On the face of it, it looked like it would be a good move for the 31-year-old given his lack of minutes at St James’ Park.
However, it would appear that a January move to Denmark is not on the cards.

Newcastle United have no plans to let Emil Krafth leave
Krafth’s agent has provided an update on his client’s Newcastle United future amid rumoured interest from Copenhagen.
Patrick Mork, who represents Krafth, has spoken to Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt about the possibility of the right-back heading to Denmark in early 2026.
“It [Copenhagen’s interest] is not relevant,” he said.

“FCK is a great club, but his [Krafth’s] salary is far too high for any club in Scandinavia.
“But then it’s also about Newcastle not wanting to let him go.”
That puts a swift end to any talk of Krafth being allowed to leave Newcastle United in January. The club that is interested cannot afford him, while Eddie Howe would not sanction a departure anyway.
It is reported that Krafth earns £55,000-a-week on Tyneside, which does not make him one of Newcastle United’s highest earners. However, it would seemingly be too high for Copenhagen to match.
Newcastle United’s Emil Krafth stance makes sense
While he has not played too much this season, Krafth is still a valuable member of the Newcastle United squad.
That was summed up by him starting the recent Premier League defeat to West Ham due to Kieran Trippier’s illness and Tino Livramento’s injury.
Squad issues have forced Howe to turn to Krafth, which makes it understandable that he does not want the defender to leave.
His versatility is massively valuable to Eddie Howe, who does not want to leave himself short of defensive options in a season where his squad is being stretched by so many cup commitments.
