Agent rules out mooted January move for £55k-a-week Newcastle United player after reports of…

Newcastle United will no doubt be looking to add to their squad in January, particularly after such a poor start to the season, but there's also scope for an exit or two.

We doubt that any high-profile players are due for an exit in January, although we're sure some fans will have a couple of names on their list who we could do without right now.

One player who has been linked with leaving Newcastle recently is Swedish full-back, Emil Krafth, who has had to make do with being a squad player for much of his time on Tyneside.

It was recently reported that FC Copenhagen in Denmark were keen to sign Krafth in January and were 'ready to move' for the 31-year-old.

Emil Krafth may struggle to get back into the Sweden squad without regular first-team football

Emil Krafth's agent gives two reasons why Emil Krafth won't move to FC Copenhagen

However, Krafth's agent has moved to pour cold water on that story, stating to Fotball Direkt that his £55,000-a-week wages would be a big stumbling block.

“FCK (Copenhagen) is a great club, but his salary is far too high for all Scandinavian clubs.

“But then it is also about Newcastle not wanting to let him go.”

Newcastle could be willing to sell if they get their first-choice players back fit

Given the injury crisis at full-back this season we can understand why Newcastle would currently be reluctant to let Krafth leave.

However, we don't expect that's going to be a hardline stance and if Tino LIvramento and Lewis Hall remain fit heading into January they could once again be open to selling.

The wage issue isn't likely to go anywhere, though, but this is a greedy agent talking, so who knows what the reality is.
