Leeds United boss Daniel Farke loves a hostile football ground
A former Premier League star was unimpressed by a Leeds United defender in Sunday's defeat at Nottingham Forest.
The Whites made their way to the City Ground knowing a win could provide them with a major boost in their bid to avoid an immediate return to the Championship and would also help them move on from a deeply disappointing performance in their 3-0 loss at Brighton and Hove Albion six days earlier.
Farke’s men made a positive start to the contest as summer signing Lukas Nmecha fired them in front with just 13 minutes on the clock - but they were pegged back within three minutes as Ibrahim Sangare grabbed a quickfire equaliser for their hosts. Goals from England duo Elliot Anderson and Morgan Gibbs-White helped Forest secure all three points - and it was the events leading up to the latter that caused major irritation for Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher.
The former Liverpool and England defender pointed to Leeds defender Jaka Bijol as the main culprit in the goals and stressed the stance taken by the Whites summer signing made it easier for Gibbs-White to grab the goal that gave his side a lead for the first time in the game.
Unforgivable

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Jaka Bijol does something that a lot of defenders do… So he’s keeping an eye on Gibbs-White all the time – I don’t understand why Bijol would put his arms behind his back? Now I would understand if he was one against one and the ball’s really close to him and he’s trying to avoid giving away a silly penalty.
“Because his arms are now behind his back, it allows Gibbs-White to make that run behind him but if he kept his arms where they should be, he can get tight, he can feel him, he can touch him, he can sense where he is going to run. But as soon as he loses sight of Gibbs-White, he can’t feel him because his hands are behind his back. There’s no need to have his hands behind his back, because the ball is never going to hit him on the arm. Gibbs-White just runs in behind and is gifted an easy header. It’s almost unforgivable.”
