The Green Bay Packers continue to try to establish the run this season. That’s usually a recipe for success in the NFL, but it’s more complicated than that.

The Packers have a legitimate star in running back Josh Jacobs, and the combination with Emanuel Wilson should give the offense a dynamic feel. Yet, the offensive line simply cannot run block at all.

After their Week 10 loss, troubling stats emerged about the Packers’ run game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Matt LaFleur said that he felt like the Packers were having some success on the ground. They averaged -0.16 EPA per rush attempt with a 33% success rate,” Tyler Brooke wrote on X.

The Packers ran the ball 27 times against the Eagles’ elite front seven. Some of those runs, however, were scrambles by quarterback Jordan Love.

Once again, Jacobs was constantly hit at or behind the line of scrimmage, and he averaged just 3.5 yards per carry. This has been a recurring issue this season, and with no offensive line help, trying to do the same thing over and over just doesn’t make any sense.

The Packers continued to take this approach even after starting center Elgton Jenkins left with an injury, and they have some major offensive line issues to fix in the offseason.

Despite their commitment to the run, they rank 20th in rushing yards per game (111.9) this season. Jacobs is averaging 3.8 yards per carry, and this approach has Love constantly facing third-and-long situations, which is holding back the passing game.
