Former Brighton man Valentín Barco says he’s living the best moment of his career, after earning another call-up to the Argentina national team.
The 21-year-old is now shining for Racing Strasbourg in Ligue 1. He spoke to [**TyC Sports**](https://www.tycsports.com/seleccion-argentina/colo-barco-seleccion-argentina-sueno-jugar-mundial-puesto-scaloni-id698098.html) about his rise since leaving England and his dream of reaching the 2026 World Cup.
Barco left Brighton in the summer after struggling for minutes in the Premier League. The Argentine had arrived from Boca Juniors amid high expectations. However, he was given limited chances to prove himself, and sent out on loan to Sevilla. His move to France has changed everything.
‘Colo’ has become a key player for Strasbourg and earned consistent praise for his pace, confidence and versatility.
_“It’s the best moment of my career, but I still think I can give much more,”_ he said. _“I’m working every day to improve the things I don’t do so well.”_
Barco, who was part of Argentina’s extended squad before the 2024 Copa América, also admitted that playing in a World Cup remains his biggest goal. _“Playing a World Cup is every player’s dream,”_ he added. _“Since you start playing football, the dream is to represent your country.”_
The Argentine also said he is happy to play “wherever needed” for Lionel Scaloni’s team, underlining the attitude that made him one of the most promising young players in the continent.
So after a frustrating spell in England, Barco now seems exactly where he dreamed of being. And with high hopes of being on the plane to North America next year.
