Frenkie de Jong has been full of praise for Robert Lewandowski as he prepares to face his Barcelona team-mate in World Cup qualifying.
The Netherlands take on Poland on Friday night in a game which will see the two players come up against each other.
”With Lewandowski back, our team is definitely better; the difference he makes is enormous, everyone knows that. Robert has proven it for almost 15 or 20 years, always scoring goals; he’s a world-class striker,” he said via Mundo Deportivo.
De Jong also spoke about his future at the club after penning a new contract. The midfielder says he has received offers but was never tempted to move on.
“Do I have to go to the Premier League to prove my worth?... I don’t think so. There were offers, but I’m happy at Barça,” he added.
“The Premier League is the best league right now, without a doubt, just like La Liga was about ten years ago. But that doesn’t mean you have to play there to prove you’re a great player. I already had that dream as a child with Barcelona.”
