New betting favorite to win NFL MVP emerges after Week 10, overtaking Josh Allen

There is a new betting favorite to win the NFL Most Valuable Player award after Week 10.

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has overtaken former MVP winners Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes to sit atop the betting market following the latest week of NFL action.

Maye sits at +275, just ahead of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford at +300. Neither player has won an MVP award in their respective careers.

Maye overtook Bills quarterback Josh Allen in the MVP race after the Patriots improved to 8-2 with a 28-23 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday, while Buffalo was blown out 30-13 by the lowly Dolphins. New England has now won seven games in a row.

This season, Maye ranks third in the NFL in passing yards (2,555), tied-for-third in passing touchdowns (19), and second in completion percentage (71.7). The 2024 No. 3 overall pick has played near-flawless football in his first season under new Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel.

His primary competitor is Stafford, who has been equally impressive in his 17th professional season.

The Rams signal-caller leads the league in passing TD (25) and passing yards per game (269.7). Los Angeles is on a four game win streak, sitting behind the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West on tiebreaker.

Mahomes (+500) dropped to third-favorite during the Chiefs’ bye week, followed by Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (+600) after his latest MVP-worthy performance on Sunday.

Taylor rushed for 244 yards and three touchdowns in Indianapolis’ overtime win over the Falcons in Berlin, Germany, seeing the team improve to 8-2.

The Colts’ running back leads the NFL in rushing yards (1,139) and touchdowns (15) and is bidding to become the first non-quarterback to win MVP since Adrian Peterson in 2012.

Allen is down to +700 after being favored to win his second straight MVP following the Bills’ Week 9 win over the Chiefs.

The reigning MVP threw an interception and lost a fumble in Buffalo’s shock defeat to Miami in Week 10.

Maye and Stafford face big tests in Week 11, with the former set to feature on Thursday Night Football in a division matchup against the Jets before Stafford and the Rams face the Seahawks on Sunday evening.
