Ivan Toney could make a return to the Premier League in January.
Everton may not be at an immediate risk of relegation this season, though there are some major concerns that, if not addressed, could sway that verdict as the campaign goes on.
Goals are at the very top of that list, with Beto and Thierno Barry struggling to make any real impact at Everton under David Moyes.
Toney has been linked with a move to Everton in January, and based on what Moyes has said in the past, it’s a link that may have legs to it.

Ivan Toney was hailed by David Moyes in 2024
Toney was setting the Premier League alight at Brentford before making a move to Saudi Arabia in 2024 that turned a lot of heads.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
Since he has lost his place in the England squad, despite having scored 41 times in 59 appearances for Al Ahli.
In his last full season for the Bees, Toney scored 21 and assisted five, and it was a campaign that really caught the attention of Moyes a year later.
On the striker’s abilities, he said: “I think he’s someone who’s always thinking about the football, considering the moments
“He’s got an awful lot of good things as a footballer. Obviously, there’s a coolness about his finishing and how he plays, and he’s got a physical element to him.
“But also, importantly, he’s got a really intelligent football brain at times.”
Moyes is clearly a fan of the Englishman, and he may do all it takes to bring him to Merseyside in the January transfer window.
Everton must avoid Ivan Toney alternative
It was also reported that Josh Zirkzee is a priority target for Everton, though it is likely him or Toney.
While Toney would add something different to the Toffees’ frontline, most notably, goals, Zirkzee would be a carbon copy of the two options that Moyes currently has.
Beto and Barry are both lacking confidence, and the last thing that Everton need is a third striker who has scored just seven goals in the two seasons he has spent at Man United.
Everton need to sign a striker in January; that much is clear, but it needs to be the right profile to bolster their attack.
