Manchester United have been left impressed by the progress of Galatasaray defender Wilfried Singo, according to Turkish outlet Sabah.
The Red Devils primarily focused on bolstering their attacking department during the 2025 summer transfer window.
Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko were signed to add more quality and creativity in the final third.
Alongside them, goalkeeper Senne Lammens and left-back Diego Leon joined the club.
The focus could turn to more defensive-minded signings next year, and Sabah claim that Singo is on the club’s radar.
The Red Devils had scouts in attendance to watch Singo during Galatasaray’s 3-0 Champions League win over Ajax at the Johan Cruijff Arena.
The club were left impressed by his performance and plan to watch him again in the European games against Union Saint-Gilloise and Monaco.
Sabah add that United will be knocking on the Istanbul club’s door to sign the versatile defender at the turn of the year.
Singo was signed by Galatasaray for €30.8 million (£27m) from Monaco in August. He has a €60m (£53m) release clause in his contract.
United could explore a deal for Singo
The Red Devils did not make a marquee defensive signing last summer, but they did purchase Patrick Dorgu last winter.
Dorgu was a left-back by trade during his time at Lecce, but the Dane has seamlessly adapted to the left wing-back position.
He has caught the eye with his overlapping runs, but has also been effective when it comes to winning duels in key phases.
Singo has similar attributes. He has played as either a centre-back or right-back since his move to the Super Lig champions.
He has won almost 65 per cent of his duels and has also excelled with his ball recoveries and ability to make crunch tackles.
The Ivorian has one assist to his name from nine appearances in all competitions this term.
The 24-year-old was primarily a right wing-back at Torino for several seasons, and this should be another benefit for United.
Manager Ruben Amorim could play him in the back three or as a right wing-back in his 3-4-2-1 formation at the Red Devils.
United are unlikely to pay anywhere close to £53m, but a January deal could be done if Galatasaray accept £35-40m for a transfer.
Galatasaray are no strangers to selling high-profile players in January. They previously sold Sacha Boey to Bayern during the winter of 2024.
