Packers QB Jordan Love Sends Strong Message on Matt LaFleur After Eagles Loss

The Green Bay Packers fell to the Philadelphia Eagles at Lambeau Field in a slow-moving “Monday Night Football” contest in Week 10, and whenever there’s a loss on home turf, Packers fans are typically angsty.

Monday was the team’s second consecutive loss, and even though they had two possessions in the game’s final minute, the Packers didn’t score on either drive.

After the game, chatter surfaced that maybe head coach Matt LaFleur’s days are numbered with the franchise. In a post on X after the contest, the Athletic’s Matt Schneidman said, “I don’t think it’s far-fetched to say Matt LaFleur is coaching for his job the rest of the season.”

So, what does Packers quarterback Jordan Love think? After the game, Love set the record straight about his opinion of LaFleur.

“I’ve got a lot of trust in Matt,” Love said. “That’s something that's not wavering at all. I’ve been with Matt since I got here. I know exactly what he’s capable of, what the whole staff is capable of; that's not wavering. It comes back to all of us - players, coaches, everybody - finding ways to improve and get better.”

After the contest, LaFleur said that the team has to dig themselves “out of this hole.” He also praised the team’s defense but criticized the offense.

“Our defense was outstanding. Unfortunately, just too many mistakes offensively to overcome it,” LaFleur said. “You hold good football teams to 10 points you should win the football game, but obviously we didn’t do enough offensively. We’ve got a short week. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. We’ve got to figure it out, come back and do better.”

Love had a difficult game against the Eagles. He completed 20 of 36 passes for 176 yards and zero touchdowns against Philadelphia, which made for his worst single-game completion percentage of the season (55.5%). He also had two fumbles.

In general, Love described the evening as “disappointing” and “frustrating.”

“You feel like, as an offense, you're letting the defense down because they're doing such a great job,” he added. “Obviously, that's a really good offense over there and they stopped them for the majority of the game, and we just didn't find ways to score. It's just not good enough, so it's definitely frustrating, but we'll find ways to overcome this and be better, for sure.”
