Per multiple reports, the rookie has been hit with a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substance policy.
Adam Schefter reported the news and indicated taht Williams will be eligible for reinstatement on Tuesday, Dec. 22, which will follow the Week 16 game against the Carolina Panthers.
Williams joined the Buccaneers in the 2025 season as an undrafted rookie. He played for LSU from 2019 to 2024, racking up 1,494 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns in his four-year collegiate career.
After going undrafted, he made his way onto the Buccaneers. Though he is fourth on the team’s depth chart, Williams has appeared in four games, picking up 11 yards on four carries thus far this season.
There is no telling what the Buccaneers plan to do one Williams is reinstated, but he will not be eligible to rejoin the team until Dec. 22.
The reports regarding the suspension do not mention what Williams tested positive for, only that the NFL has handed down a six-game suspension as a result of the test.
For now, the rookie will need to serve his suspension and will not be paid during that time as well.
The Buccaners are set to face the Buffalo Bills next, and look to rebound after going 1-2 in their last three outings. Though Williams is not a starter, the team will still be without a young potential rotational back for the next six games.
