Sources: Where Newcastle think they can finish this season as PIF make Eddie Howe stance clear

PIF still have complete confidence in Eddie Howe as Newcastle United manager, Geordie Boot Boys understands.

Following Newcastle United’s defeat to Brentford on Sunday, pressure has started to mount on Eddie Howe. Questions are being asked of the manager, with his side down in 14th in the Premier League table.

It was a dreadful performance, but PIF have no plans to sack Eddie Howe.

They remain committed to the man they brought to St James’ Park four years ago, while there is an appreciation of the difficult job he had to do over the summer while there was chaos behind the scenes.

PIF know they put Eddie Howe in a unique position this summer

Insider Graeme Bailey has exclusively spoken to Geordie Boot Boys about Eddie Howe’s status as Newcastle United manager.

Bailey insists that Howe’s job is not under threat, with PIF appreciating just how ‘overworked’ he was during the summer transfer window.

“PIF are fully behind Eddie Howe and the project,” he said.

“They put him in a position in the summer where he was overworked, even without the Isak situation. He was part of the entire recruitment process. No other manager of a big club in Europe had to do that. He wasn’t forced to, but it was the situation Newcastle found themselves in.

“Newcastle went through an incredibly difficult summer period. They got a lot of work done. Their main striker has not even played in Yoane Wissa. That has to be taken into consideration, even if Nick Woltemade’s start has papered over some of the cracks.”

Newcastle United eye top six finish despite poor start

After 11 games, Newcastle United are closer to the relegation zone than qualifying for Europe. It simply has not been good enough.

But while Newcastle are doing worse than they were last season, there is still hope inside the club for a strong finish in the Premier League.

“PIF know performances have not been good enough,” Bailey added.

“Howe doesn’t need to be told that. He doesn’t need to be sat down by Ross Wilson and be told this isn’t good enough. Howe knows that.

“There is a real belief that Newcastle are good enough to finish in the top six again. They should be pushing for the Champions League places again, but the performances have been nowhere near that so far.

“The club are not saying Howe has a free pass, but the situation he has been in is unlike any other. That needs to be taken into consideration.”
