West-side renovations to Oklahoma Memorial Stadium approved by Board of Regents

OKLAHOMA CITY — The next phase of Oklahoma's master plan to renovate Oklahoma Memorial Stadium took a step forward Tuesday.

The university's Board of Regents approved planned and long-awaited renovations to the west side of Oklahoma Memorial Stadium during its meeting Tuesday in Oklahoma City. The project is set to have an overall projected cost of $450 million with the ensuing step of the project — construction management — expected to cost no more than $30 million.

The renovation is set to begin after the 2027 football season.

"We're at a very important step along a great journey to renovate the west side of our Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium," Oklahoma athletics director Joe Castiglione said. "It's the next big phase in a master plan that we developed well over 12 years ago, presented to the board, board approved, and we've been following that plan ever since. That side of the stadium, as you all know, is over 100 years old and celebrated that anniversary last year…. It's not just about construction itself or the stadium. It's really a big statement toward how we are also investing in the future of intercollegiate athletics."
