The Jacksonville Jaguars received the worst possible news regarding Travis Hunter's injury.
On Oct. 30, Hunter was injured in practice and was placed on the injured reserve one day later as the Jaguars determined the severity of the knee issue. Roughly a week or so after the move, Jacksonville received more news on its two-way star, though it is not an update the organization would have liked to have.

Instead of a potential return at some point this season, Hunter will be out for a considerable amount. The news comes after the Jaguars traded for star wide receiver Jakobi Meyers at the NFL trade deadline.

"Earlier today, Jaguars WR/DB Travis Hunter underwent successful surgery to repair an isolated lateral collateral ligament (LCL) injury in his right knee, the team announced," the team's statement Tuesday, regarding Hunter's knee injury, began.
"Beyond the LCL, there was no additional damage to the knee, which Hunter injured during practice on Oct. 30. The procedure was performed by Dr. Dan Cooper and Jaguars team physician, Dr. Kevin Kaplan, in Dallas. Hunter, 22, will miss the remainder of the 2025 season, but is expected to return within six months to full football activities."
Fans on social media quickly shared their thoughts on Hunter's injury, with some suggesting that the two-way star should focus solely on one side of the ball, as playing both sides may have contributed to the injury the 22-year-old sustained in practice.

"That sucks. I did wonder if trying to play both sides of the ball could get him worn out and increase the likelihood of injury," a fan wrote in response to seeing that Hunter will miss the rest of the season. "That may not be the ultimate reason...but it seems that GETTING tackled does increase the injury risks."
"I think he should come back next year and just play one side of the ball. Doesn’t make sense to try and do this again," a fan wrote, with another adding: "Now he will have time to figure out which side of the ball he should play on. Cuz he can’t do both physically."
Two more fans chimed in, believing that Jacksonville will think long and hard before determining if Hunter is cut out to play both sides of the ball in arguably the most physical sport. "You have to wonder whether he is going still try to be a 2 way player again," the third fan wrote.

Along with losing Hunter, the Jaguars will try and right the ship without the star. Speaking to reporters, head coach Liam Coen explained the team's mindset heading into another week.
"It's just the next opportunity that we have to go try to get a W," he stated. "I mean, that's the reality is that we gave up a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter, essentially, and didn't get it done. Their back was against the wall, and they played like it. You know, they played like it, and we didn't. And so those are tough ones to swallow. ...
"It's hard to move forward. But come Wednesday, we're preparing for another opponent. When the players get back in the building, we are preparing for another opponent. We got to get this tape fixed and corrected and moved on. But, you know, I'm not worried about losing the team by any means."
