Chelsea want to bring one of the world’s best strikers back to the Premier League

[Chelsea](https://chelseanews.com/) are always one of the most active teams on the summer transfer market, and the 2025 window was no exception with two new strikers, a few new wingers, and even a couple of new midfielders coming in to boost the team.

After winning the Club World Cup over reigning Champions League winners PSG, the Blues feel that they can compete with anyone in the world, and while they are behind rivals Arsenal in the Premier League title race, it would be foolish not to think of them as potential contenders.

Joao Pedro and even Liam Delap, who has been injured, have shown great promise up top for the Blues, and they have been upgrades on Nicolas Jackson, whom the club sent packing to Bayern Munich on loan.

But Chelsea could still use a proven superstar goal scorer at the striker position to pair with those options and work with Estevao Willian and Cole Palmer – two Ballon d’Or level talents

TBR Football transfer insider Graeme Bailey states that Chelsea are among the clubs interested in Julian Alvarez, and like La Liga rivals Barcelona, they, too, are very closely monitoring the Atletico Madrid superstar’s potential availability:

“Julian Alvarez has quietly emerged as one of the best strikers in Europe. He has been very good for Atletico, outstanding even, but intermediaries are making it clear that he is considering his options. Whilst Barca seems the most likely option for him — PSG and Chelsea are very much keeping close tabs on the situation. I am told that clearly Barca and PSG appeal to Alvarez, but don’t rule out a move to London with Chelsea.”

A star for Manchester City in the Premier League before spreading his wings with the Rojiblancos after wanting to escape Erling Haaland’s shadow, Alvarez has found that playing under Diego Simeone has its negatives.

Chelsea and Atleti have done so much business over the years involving big name players like Fernando Torres, Saul, Thibaut Courtois, Filipe Luis, and Conor Gallagher. Who’s to say Alvarez won’t be next?
