The New York Jets were hit with a new Garrett Wilson sucker punch.
After seven straight losses to start the 2025 NFL season, the Jets have won their last two games, taking down the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns in back-to-back weeks. Wilson, specifically, missed the Jets' matchup against the Dallas Cowboys and the Bengals.

The star returned to face the Browns, though he was limited during his time on the field. Now, the extent of his knee injury has been revealed, leaving the Jets without one of their best players.

ESPN reporter Rich Cimini posted on X that Wilson will miss at least three to four weeks with a knee sprain, though the star wideout will not undergo surgery. Instead, the 25-year-old will rehab his injured knee, with the star set to return at some point before the end of the season.

The update comes after Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters that Wilson had suffered an injury against the Browns. Wilson only played 19 snaps, with the head coach revealing that he had re-aggravated his knee injury, although the star required further examinations to evaluate the seriousness of the injury.
"Comes with the injuries," Glenn said after the win. "Two, we had Garrett, he just came back on his knee. Came back down on his knee, the same knee he injured before. And [Azareye'h Thomas]. AZ will be going through the protocol. So, that will be tough going to a short week. But, we're going to evaluate him and see how he is."

Interestingly, when Glenn began his press conference on Tuesday, the head coach opted not to divulge any injury updates. Rather, Glenn told reporters to ask Cimini for the updates, seemingly upset that the ESPN reporter reported that Wilson will be out for a considerable amount of time.
When asked how the Jets would work around Wilson's injury, Glenn stated that New York has enough talent on that end to keep the team afloat until the 25-year-old's return, whenever that might be.
"Well, we have other guys too," Glenn continued to reporters Tuesday. "So Mason [Taylor], he's gonna step up. We have some new players that has come in, and we see exactly where they're at as far as putting them a part of the offense too.

Justin Fields, the Jets' starting quarterback, echoed Glenn's statement, believing that with Wilson out, other players have a chance to make their presence felt and to fill in where Wilson would be.
"Yeah, I mean, it's tough, but it is what it is," Fields said Tuesday. "You know, kind of like Cincinnati week, you know, there's going to be guys that, you know, have opportunities to go make plays.
"But, you know, it's definitely tough when one of your best guys on offense is out. But like I said, it's an opportunity for some other guys to come in and make plays."
