Jaire Alexander could retire from the NFL
Jaire Alexander's arrival in Philadelphia was supposed to solidify the Super Bowl champions as the team gels into playoff form. Instead, it might be the final act of his NFL career.
Just days after joining the Eagles via trade, the two-time All-Pro cornerback has notified the team that he is stepping back to prioritize his physical and mental well-being. Sources close to the team indicate that Alexander is "considering retirement."

The former Green Bay standout and Baltimore starter was acquired on November 1 through a deal involving a future 2026 sixth-round draft pick sent to the Ravens. Philadelphia also received a 2027 seventh-round pick, expecting Alexander's aggressive style to strengthen a secondary that has conceded 327.9 yards per game, more than the 2-7 Browns and Raiders.

Future reports suggested that the decision was motivated by a knee injury that significantly impacted Alexander both physically and mentally. In late October 2024, Alexander tore his PCL during Green Bay's 30-27 victory at Jacksonville, leaving the game in the final minutes after awkwardly planting his leg while breaking up a pass.
Initially hopeful for a return, he practiced intermittently over the next month until swelling prompted the Packers to shut him down. The injury necessitated surgery, placed him on injured reserve, and ultimately forced him to miss nine games before ending his tenure with the franchise.
