Green Bay Packers: former 2x Pro Bowler Jaire Alexander makes shocking career announcement

Prior to the 2025 NFL season, the relationship between the Green Bay Packers and cornerback Jaire Alexander was a frequent topic of conversation. The relationship between player and organization seemed to deteriorate in 2023 when Alexander frequently made awkward comments to the media, made himself a captain for an away game, and, disappointingly, could not stay healthy enough to play any more than seven games.

In 2024, both Alexander and the Packers said they had put 2023 behind them and were ready to move forward together. But all was still not well. After suffering a groin and knee injury, Alexander missed another 10 games that year, despite being listed as a full participant in practice towards the end of the year.

To the surprise of few, perhaps, Green Bay made the decision to waive Alexander prior to training camp. He eventually landed with the Baltimore Ravens, but has since moved on from them too.

Despite the optimism that surrounded Alexander’s signing with Baltimore, he rarely saw the field for them. In total, he played in just two games and was oftentimes a healthy scratch.

Ahead of the NFL trade deadline, the Ravens traded Alexander to the Philadelphia Eagles, setting him up for a rematch with his former team. However, the former Packers star did not even make the flight to Green Bay, with the Eagles citing a knee injury/coach’s decision for the reason why.

And on Tuesday, it is being reported that Alexander has informed the Eagles he is stepping away from football:

It is possible that Alexander ends up retiring.

He is still just 28 years old.
