NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - South College in Nashville partnered with the Tennessee Titans on Veterans Day to offer free dental cleanings and services to military veterans at its public dental clinic.
Tammy Fisher, director of dental hygiene at South College, said the event benefits both the veterans and the students who are training to become dental professionals.
“This event truly is a win-win for everyone,” Fisher said. “Our students get the opportunity to work with real-life heroes.”
One of those students, who is also a veteran, said providing care to former service members feels especially meaningful.
“I come from a military family. I served, and my husband is still on active duty,” she said. “Being able to help veterans in this way is something I want to continue doing even after I graduate.”

Veterans who received care on Tuesday said the clinic’s support makes a difference.
“To be honest, I don’t think I would take this good care of my teeth without them,” said veteran Michael Kemper.
For students, the day also helped them remember why they chose this field in the first place.
“I think the whole point of going into this profession is to help people,” said dental student Madelyn Brown. “Getting to do that today makes it really special.”
South College said veterans are welcome to return for free services throughout the year, not just on Veterans Day.
“We do not charge veterans as our way of thanking them for their service,” Fisher said. “There’s also a shortage of dental providers, and this is one way we can help veterans access the care they need.”
Veterans can contact the South College Nashville Dental Clinic to schedule an appointment or learn more about available services.
