Kevin Stefanski Won’t Speculate When Shedeur Sanders Plays

The Cleveland Browns are one of the teams struggling and coach Kevin Stefanski is looking to turn the tides around. One of the biggest causes for concern has been the quarterback position as they started with Joe Flacco before being traded to the Cincinnati Bengals. After the trade, third-round rookie Dillon Gabriel became the starter and fifth-round rookie Shedeur Sanders has been the backup.

Stefanski’s offense has not been doing too well and people are asking about seeing what the backup quaretrback can do. He would respond, so let’s take a deeper dive into what he said.

During Tuesday’s press conference, coach Kevin Stefanski was asked about possibly giving playing time to backup quarterback Shedeur Sanders, but Stefanski did not give much of an answer in terms of him seeing the field anytime soon.

“I don’t think it’s fair to speculate. We’re committed to getting better as an offense. Dillon [Gabriel] is certainly committed to improving every which way he can. All the while, all of our players, our young players, are developing, and working so hard behind the scenes to make sure that they’re getting better on a daily basis.”

Gabriel has been struggling to find a rhythm since being the starting quarterback, as he has completed 102 of 174 (58.6%) of his passes for 869 yards with seven passing touchdowns to two interceptions over the course of seven games (five starts). Sanders has not found his way onto the field throughout the first 10 weeks of the NFL season.

With the quarterback concerns and the fact the Browns are not in the picture for a playoff spot, it will be intriguing to see if coach Kevin Stefanski wants to see what the team has in Sanders.
