He follows in the footsteps of teammate Lewis Cook and former Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson to get the nod for the senior side – the Daily Echo looks back on that pair’s starts with the Three Lions.
Cook became the first serving Bournemouth player to make an appearance for the country, when he featured off the bench in a friendly against Italy in March 2018.
The then-21-year-old replaced Jesse Lingard for Gareth Southgate’s England in their 1-1 draw with Italy at Wembley, after experiencing two games as an unused member of the squad for England.
He received his first call up to the senior side in November 2017, promoted from the U21s squad for a friendly against Brazil, although he did not feature.
But he was called up again in March and, while he was an unused substitute in their 1-0 win over the Netherlands, he made what is his only England appearance to date against the Azzurri.
Later in 2018, it was Wilson’s turn.
The striker was in red-hot form for Eddie Howe’s Cherries when he was handed his maiden call up, with no Englishman scoring more goals than him in the Premier League in the 2018/19 campaign up to that point in November.
Wilson had scored six and provided four assists in the 12 games of the season to that point, prompting the call from Southgate.
And it was to be a dream goalscoring debut for Wilson for England, as he struck against the USA 13 minutes from time in a 3-0 win at Wembley – meaning he is the only Bournemouth player to have scored for England while at the club.
While Cook has just the one England cap, Wilson made four appearances for the Three Lions as a Cherries player, before he joined Newcastle in September 2020.
Scott will be aiming to join the pair as representatives of England while at the Dorset club when England take on Serbia on Thursday, before their game against Albania on Sunday.
