Jermaine Jenas has made a claim about a Liverpool midfielder which is sure to turn a few heads.
Liverpool haven’t been at their best for most of the 2025-26 season, with Arne Slot’s men losing a decent chunk of their games across all competitions.
It’s not like the Reds don’t have enough quality among their ranks to win games, but it does feel like more needs to be seen from the Anfield outfit, especially after all the money they spent in the summer.

Most people thought that Liverpool would be untouchable this term, but that’s not been the case whatsoever.

As mentioned, there’s plenty of quality among the Reds’ ranks, with Jenas now saying that one of Slot’s midfielders is even better than Enzo Fernandez.
Jermaine Jenas thinks that Ryan Gravenberch is a better player than Enzo Fernandez
When Ryan Gravenberch is absent from Liverpool’s starting XI, the impact often costs them dearly.
There have already been a few games in the 2025-26 campaign and, more often than not, it’s been made more than aware that Gravenberch is key to the Merseyside outfit’s set-up.
Without him sitting just above Slot’s back four, there’s no connection between defence and midfield, and it makes their set-up much more rigid.

So, while doing a winner stays on video for the Wildcards Podcast, it’s not a surprise to see Jenas choose Gravenberch over Enzo Fernandez.
The video starts with Tijani Reijnders and Granit Xhaka, with Reijnders winning.
Rodrigo Bentancur is then introduced to the challenge, and he wins Reijnders. Bentancur is then put up against Gravenberch, which he loses.
Gravenberch is then up against Fernandez, which the Dutchman wins again.
Then Rodri is introduced into the battle, which is when Gravenberch loses, proving that Jenas thinks the Dutchman is better than Fernandez and Bentancur.
Ryan Gravenberch must help Liverpool get back on track before it’s too late
At the moment, most Liverpool fans are likely thinking that the Premier League title is out of the question for them.
There have been moments throughout the season when Liverpool looked like they were well up for retaining the Premier League title, especially at the start of the campaign.
However, since they won their opening five games, things have just seemed to go downhill from there.
Of course, the 1-0 win against Real Madrid will remain a highlight of the season, but aside from that, none of the Reds’ performances have been all that great since the start.
There’s still time for everything to be turned around and to be put back on track, but at the moment, that doesn’t feel likely.
This is why Gravenberch needs to step up and help Virgil van Dijk get Liverpool’s first-team squad back on track as soon as possible.
