Nuno Espirito Santo is reported to have given a green light to a West Ham midfield acquisition in January.

West Ham are believed to be ready to reignite their pursuit of Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber this summer with the player admired by manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

The London outfit were regularly linked with the 24-year-old this summer but instead turned to Mateus Fernandes and Soungoutou Magassa. It’s still early days as those players settle in but, with Lucas Paqueta linked with a move away, the club could look to add creativity in the midfield come January.

Timber is the younger brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber and has turned heads with his reliable performances at Feyenoord. Hammers News report that Nuno had been keen to sign the midfielder for Nottingham Forest when still at The City Ground this summer.

West Ham reignite interest in £17m brother of Arsenal star

Caught Offside claim that the 24-year-old could be available for just £17 million in January with the Dutch outfit keen to cash in on the player ahead of his contract’s expiry next summer. Hammers News claim that a contact in the club has described Timber as the ‘missing piece’ for Nuno at the London Stadium.

The source said: “There will be plenty of interest from elsewhere and Timber believes he should be playing Champions League football. But Nuno likes him and wanted him at Forest so it makes sense. There’s a feeling he could be the missing piece for the manager.”

Meanwhile, it appears that there may be a solution to the Niclas Fullkrug conundrum at West Ham which could benefit the club. The German international is pushing for a move away in January having struggled to make an impact in the Premier League since his £27 million move a year and a half ago.

AC Milan eye Niclas Fullkrug swap deal

Claret and Hugh report that AC Milan could be interested in taking a punt on Fullkrug and offloading Santiago Gimenez in a swap deal. The striker has fallen out of favour in Milan with just on goal in 11 appearances this term.

Gimenez is said to be a former West Ham target and someone the club knows well. He has struggled since making a €32 million move to AC Milan but had previously bagged 45 goals in 73 appearances for Feyenoord.
