Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup star Joelinton has been snapped on holiday with his wife, Thays Gondim.
He might have a lost a chunk of his ankle at Brentford on Sunday and be the pantomime villain for football fans across England, but Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton is definitely winning, especially when you take a look at social media.
The Brazilian missed out on an international call up, as Carlo Ancelotti overlooked the £40m man for his latest squad. Bruno Guimaraes, as ever, was named by the Italian. While Joelinton sweats on his World Cup spot next year, Bruno is one of the key men. However, it certainly doesn’t look like it’s bothering the big man too much, anyway.

Wife Thays Gondim shared a loved up photo of the pair as Joelinton met up with his family back in their homeland. The pair can be seen kissing on the edge of a pool with the beach, palms and the sea in the background.
Eddie Howe injury update
“Nick Pope suffered a concussion and that's why we took him off,” he said. “As soon as we were made aware of that, then he was withdrawn. Joelinton, I'm not sure, looked like a knock, but I haven't had a full discussion or debrief from the medical team on him. Anthony has a minor injury, so he'll miss England.”
Newcastle United experienced heads
Eddie Howe was also asked whether any of the experienced heads in the dressing room spoke up at full-time. Instead, he preferred to voice his opinion during Newcastle’s post-match debrief.
“We've got an experienced team and occasionally those players may speak,” Howe added. “But I think it was important for me to speak and give my message to the team. In times of adversity and difficulty, I think it's when your true character is tested and when your true character is revealed.
“And I think we need to be very calm, but we need to be measured and we need to be reflective. We need to then come out of this period with a way forward and a way that we're going to be successful away from home and at home and get some more points.”
