One of Arne Slot’s biggest problems at Liverpool is about to get even worse - opinion

Things might only get harder for Arne Slot from here on in.

The Reds have had a very tricky start to the season to say the least, with many fans believing that their title defence is over already.

However, Liverpool can still very much win the league, it would just take a lot to do so, and most of it is down to Slot.

Many think the Dutchman will only improve from here, though, and this is the lowest Liverpool will be. But this might not be the case.

There is one big problem that Slot had already, and after the international break, it will only be exacerbated, suggesting the darkest days could still be yet to come.

Arne Slot will have a massive selection dilemma after the international break

Over the summer, Liverpool added a raft of quality players to the squad, with it now filled to the brim with world-beaters.

However, the Reds have had their fair share of injuries, meaning that Slot has not had as big a selection headache as he perhaps could have, something that will change in a few weeks’ time.

For example, Jeremie Frimpong will return fairly soon after the break, meaning he has another issue at right-back, or perhaps even right wing given how attacking he is and with Mohamed Salah going to AFCON.

Alexander Isak will also be back wanting minutes, so Slot then has to work out how to manage his game time instead of, or alongside, Hugo Ekitike, which could result in another player missing out.

Milos Kerkez is another who will be wanting his place back in the team after three games away, but Andy Robertson has been so impressive that he does not deserve to lose out, showing how tricky things might get.

Florian Wirtz is still yet to find his best position too, meaning that is another thing to solve, proving that the £450m they have spent might have caused a real issue given how slow everyone has started.

Arne Slot is blessed to be in this position

Although it will cause him a huge headache, most managers would love to have the options Slot does, showing that it needs to be seen as a positive.

Liverpool have a world-class option in almost every area of the pitch, sometimes even multiple, meaning that once it clicks, it will click.

After the break, the Reds face Nottingham Forest, PSV and West Ham, three games that feel like a must-win, as well as being one they probably should win as well.

Slot’s problem may be about to get a whole lot worse, but if he gets it right, things will massively improve, suggesting this is a pivotal time in their season.
