Report: Nicolas Jackson makes Chelsea decision ahead of January transfer window

Nicolas Jackson joined Bayern Munich on loan from Chelsea at the end of the summer transfer window.

Jackson has been in and out of Vincent Kompany’s side, though, leading to rumours that he could cut his loan short.

The 24-year-old chose to leave Chelsea following the club’s decision to sign both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen recently praised Jackson, so he still has his admirers even if he is not playing regularly at the moment.

Nicolas Jackson wants to stay at Bayern Munich and fight for his place

While Jackson may not be an automatic starter at the Allianz Arena right now, Kompany will still want to keep hold of the Senegal international, who can back up Harry Kane. And it looks like he will until the end of the season.

According to Bild, Jackson is not considering returning to Chelsea in January before joining another club again, preferring to stay in Munich and fight for his place.

That is bad news for Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Everton, who have recently been linked with the centre-forward.

Bayern director of sport Max Eberl was impressed with Jackson’s performance against Borussia Monchengladbach last month.

The former Villarreal man did not score that day but played a part in Bayern’s 3-0 win.

Nicolas Jackson’s record at Bayern Munich

Jackson has only scored one league goal this season, three fewer than Pedro at Chelsea. Again, though, he has not been an automatic starter for the German giants.

In the Champions League, however, the Chelsea loanee has managed to score twice after three outings.

Nicolas Jackson’s 2025/26 stats Appearances Starts Goals Assists

Bundesliga 8 4 1 0

Champions League 3 1 2 1

DFB-Pokal 1 0 0 0

Total 12 5 3 1

Bayern will be happy with that but, as things stand, Jackson will be expected to return to Chelsea after his loan spell is finished.

It is thought that Jackson needs to make 40 starts in order for his loan deal to become a permanent transfer, which is unlikely to happen at this rate. Staying at Chelsea, though, is out of the question after everything that happened during the summer.
