Proud but disappointed - Crawley Town boss Scott Lindsey on Peterborough United defeat
Harvey Davies made his return from injury against Peterborough United in the Verrtu Trophy on Tuesday night.
The Liverpool loanee picked up a finger injury in the 2-1 defeat to Barrow in September – but is now back in action and will be competing with Jojo Wollacott for the number one jersey in the league.
But his return did not start well when he was caught in possession in the 35th and Jimmy-Jay Morgan pounced to open the scoring. However, this mistake did not affect Davies and he pulled off two or three world class saves to keep the visitors at bay, until they got a winner in the dying seconds.
Typically, a lot of fans will only remember the mistake, but Lindsey said: “Anyone who wants to talk about Harvey Davies on the first goal, don't talk about Harvey Davies, talk about Scott Lindsey because it's me who coaches him to play that way.

“We're not always going to make every pass spot on. I felt it was probably the wrong choice, there was a midfield player who dropped down at the right moment - maybe that was the right choice. But I could understand what he was trying to do. It's never ever come for my players, it's always come for me on that.”
And the Reds boss praised him for his performance overall. “he made some fantastic saves. I remember one, Dicko [Kris Dixon, goalkeeping coach] was saying that he made the save that hit the bar. He made some great saves. He had a lot of the ball tonight.
“He had to make a lot of decisions. He got one wrong. It's his first game back as well for a while, so we have to give him plenty of space and room to get back into it again. I thought he was good tonight.”
Crawley are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Gillingham.
