‘Gaining traction’ – Interest in Aston Villa player grows but price looks fanciful

Inter Milan have Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa on their radar as they look to strengthen their defence in 2026.

Last week, we covered claims from Italy that the Serie A side are looking for a readymade, high-level centre-back. This has seen them identify the Aston Villa player as a target.

L’Interista backs up the Nerazzurri’s interest in the 28-year-old and provides the latest.

Cristian Chivu’s side have Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté, Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi and Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano as targets because their contracts expire in 2026. However, there’s a realisation that other, perhaps more attractive, clubs are in the fight for those players.

Inter aren’t giving up on potential free signings, while the Aston Villa man’s ‘candidacy is gaining traction’.

Francesco Acerbi, 37, is set to leave Inter when his contract expires at the end of the season. They don’t want to sign a centre-back who needs time, and this is where the Aston Villa defender comes into the picture.

In fact, L’Interista claim Konsa stands out among the options considered by Inter. They add it will ‘cost nearly €40m’ to sign him, which sounds like a ridiculously low price.

The Italian media are often overly optimistic on such prices, and it’s clear Aston Villa wouldn’t be selling for €40m.
