Alex Crook delivers ‘interesting’ verdict when asked if Leeds United could sack Daniel Farke

While the 49ers look set to keep Daniel Farke in the dugout throughout the November international break, the pressure remains on the Leeds United manager after a dismal run.

Following Sunday’s defeat to Nottingham Forest, fans have been calling for Daniel Farke’s head. There was sympathy for the German manager prior to the 3-1 hammering, with the recruitment team to blame.

But Farke produced a catalogue of errors on Sunday that ultimately saw Leeds suffer defeat. Willy Gnonto was left at home, Brenden Aaronson started again, and even chose to put Jack Harrison on at left-back.

Fans are fed up and with an incredibly tough fixture list coming up, fans want Farke gone. However, LeedsUnited.News understands that Farke is in no immediate danger of the sack under Paraag Marathe.

Alex Crook says pressure is mounting on Leeds boss Daniel Farke

Indeed, it is believed Farke will be given until January to turn things round. However, Leeds face some incredibly tough fixtures after the break, beginning with in-form Aston Villa at Elland Road on the 23rd.

Tim Sherwood thought Farke would be sacked, while Ross McCormack says fan backlash only stopped the 49ers sacking him in the summer. Speaking to TalkSPORT (12/11, 8.10AM), Crook discussed Farke’s future.

“Farke is an interesting one because the Leeds hierarchy weren’t totally convinced in his ability to manage in the Premier League, before a ball was kicked. Doubts will only intensify as their poor run continues.”

Who are the contenders if Daniel Farke does get the sack…

It does look as if Farke will retain his job, for now. Graham Smyth says noises coming out of Leeds do not suggest a change is imminent, with Farke still boasting 18 months on the four-year deal signed in 2023.

Brendan Rodgers was wanted by Leeds before Farke arrived in 2023, while Ange Postecoglou has been linked with Leeds in the past. Those two have been touted with the job, after leaving Celtic and Forest.

Whether The 49ers can be seen as hiring a Celtic icon, which both Rodgers and Postecoglou are, while owning Rangers, remains to be seen. Leeds have always kept tabs on Valencia boss Carlos Corberan, too.

If Leeds fans had their way, they would bring Marcelo Bielsa back to Elland Road but that feels almost impossible. Marco Rose also remains out of a job and is a RedBull favourite. He is the bookies’ favourite.
