Chelsea-bound striker gets first Oranje call-up–Rewarded for fine form

Chelsea-bound striker Emanuel Emegha has earned his first call-up to the Netherlands national team. [**NOS**](https://nos.nl/artikel/2590026-koeman-haalt-emegha-bij-oranje-selectie-vanwege-fysieke-klachten-weghorst) reports that Ronald Koeman added the 22-year-old to his squad after Ajax forward Wout Weghorst felt discomfort in training.

Weghorst remains with the group, but his fitness for Friday’s match against Poland is still uncertain. Emegha arrived in Zeist on Tuesday morning to join his new teammates.

The RC Strasbourg forward recently returned from a hamstring injury and wasted no time making an impact. He scored twice last weekend in a 2-0 Ligue 1 win over Lille.

Emegha began his career at Sparta Rotterdam, later featuring for Royal Antwerp and Sturm Graz before moving to Strasbourg in 2023. His 14 goals in 27 games last season convinced Chelsea to secure his transfer for next year.

For now, his attention turns to the Oranje. After several appearances at youth level, Emegha is finally ready to make his senior debut for the Netherlands.

Step by step, the new Dutch senior international is paving his way to become a regular at Chelsea in the future.
